I had the good fortune to manage Katie directly while we worked together at Torch. Katie has such a bright, positive energy and an incredible work ethic. It was a joy to come to work every day and spend time with her on our team calls and to watch her wow customers on external meetings too. During our time together at Torch, Katie was one of my go-to team leaders within our corporate sales group. She was always the first to volunteer to help others, and she provided valuable insights for me when rolling out new concepts or techniques to our team. Katie is fearless in approaching the tougher aspects of sales that are often avoided, too-- (prospecting, cold outreach, sending the perfect message at the perfect time and having a highly organized methodology for everything!) Most of all, Katie is big-hearted and hardworking and it shines through in everything she does. It would be an honor to work with her again!

  • I had the pleasure of attending the train the trainer 3 science session with Karen Nutter. It was a wonderful two days of learning and networking with new colleagues. Karen was not only informative, she made the learning fun. In addition, the training and videos were realistic to what HR professionals face when working with employees. If you're looking for a great way to understand how to find applicant for a role, communications, how to handle disputes among two colleagues, working with others, you can't go wrong! -Merideth Creecy
  • Karen is a role model to those she trains. Her vibrant energy and knowledge regarding emotional intelligence and the communication skills needed by leaders creates a strong learning environment. She listens well, identifies stake holders, and then customizes an approach for a leader and/or a group. -Jane Dailey President and Senior Consultant JDFOCUS LLC
  • I had the privilege of meeting Karen last year. We had a meeting where she showed her incredible ability to read people's behaviors and motivators (on me of course) and I was very intrigued. I was actually working on improving my ability to motivate team members when I met with her, so the timing was perfect. She suggested that if I really wanted to sharpen my motivational skills, that I should attend her "Train the Trainer" Session on Behaviors and Motivators. I registered for the course without hesitation. The two-day course was well worth the time invested. I could not have been more satisfied with the training, and the presentation of information by Karen was second-to-none. I would strongly recommend this course to any HR Professional or Business Executive looking to improve their understanding of behaviors and motivators, and who are looking to take that knowledge and add it to their professional skill set. -David Yencarelli, PMP, CHST · President/CEO at American Electrical Contracting Inc.

I think emotional intelligence is a concept that is very foreign to most people but critical to one's success. Karen's book brings to life the affects (both positive and negative) that a person's emotional intelligence can have on one's outcomes. She explains how to identify your weaknesses and better yet how to improve on them. Emotional intelligence is not a skill you are either born with or not. It is a developed skill that you can improve on constantly and your success will grow with these added skills.

This is an excellent first book from a life coach who helps clients learn and use the power of emotional intelligence in their work and in their relationships to improve their lives. Emotional Intelligence, the author points out, can be learned and improved upon; it is as important as IQ in whatever your idea of success may be, and can be measured. These facts alone are very compelling and provide much food for thought. Emotional Intelligence is a Big Topic these days, one that is gaining more and more recognition. There are many credible books by a variety of authors that discuss it from a somewhat academic viewpoint, which is very helpful. But I enjoy the way Ms. Nutter uses a personable narrative to present the components of emotional intelligence and its benefits, citing anecdotes and case studies from her coaching practice. This approach, combined with research based knowledge, helps make the topic a bit easier to relate to for many of us. The author includes some specific advice on how to handle challenging people and situations - not only for those in leadership positions but for those who simply want to be better at understanding themselves and others. Communicating in a way that leads to the most desirable results is something we can all use!

In today’s health care industry...The EQ concept balanced with the I Q that that in past was the focus of the selection and trading process fo health care providers is more complicated than we’s not just IQ.....

Sometimes we see something but we don't have a name for it yet. When the thing gets a name it can become a powerful force for people to step into. EQ was one of those things for me. Now I can put a name to the thing have seen lacking in the lives of otherwise smart and strong leaders...and in myself. I read The Power of EQ last weekend as part of a quest for personal growth. This book is geared in many ways towards team leaders in organizations and corporations and highlights several examples of how Karen Nutter has been a successful facilitator in creating positive change in dysfunctional teams, but the book also speaks to individuals, like myself, as well. I'm on a quest to become a stronger friend, mother, wife, and mentor to those around me. I underlined passages throughout the book and dog-eared the pages as I read it last weekend, and this weekend went back and reviewed those lessons. The book covers so much in a small package. It is worth every penny I paid for it. My favorite chapter is 9: Social Awareness for Leadership, Empathy Means Listening. I highly recommend getting a copy.

CBK Advising’s mastermind group helped me recognize DISC styles at work with, and between my peers. Our different styles helped us get feedback from all perspectives. We bonded and also became more accountable to each other throughout the year. With CBK Advising's guidance and advanced facilitation skills, they were able to support our growth as successful business owners. They let nothing slip in our communication and participation within the group. This made for great group dynamics.
